I really wish I had the money for a project right now. I think the question mark after the interior color is a nice touch.

Link in comments hopefully because Kinja gonna kinja.

First/best year car, too.  Doesn’t look terribly rotten given its rust paradise location, either.

Sadly, these don’t bring huge money even when perfect, so a real restoration would be a labor of love.

This is the slipperiest car imaginable. I want this because of reasons.

I was not expecting that price.  That is within plausibility.

One of these is my top attainable dream car. My great grandfather owned a Desoto dealer and I definitely want to own a Desoto at some point, and this is easily the most iconic Desoto in my opinion. If it’s an airflow a 1934 is at the top of the wish list. My grandfather was the “technical expert” for the National Desoto Club for any questions about the Airflow series for a very long time as well.

It looks like some of the trim is missing on this one. Needless to say that won’t be easy to replace. Like you say though it looks fairly solid for an 85 year old car.

I occasionally look for them because I really want one badly. They don’t command big dollars even in great shape, but this is the most reasonable ive seen recently.

They’re on my lust list. I would also accept a ‘34 Hupmobile Aerodynamic, but they’re harder to come by than these, even. Another lust list item in a similar vein is the Panhard Dynamic, but a really nice one of those is a $70,000+ car.

34 is the year to have, purest design - as I am sure you agree, the later models were “normalized” a bit, and lost something in that.

I bet some things could be sourced, but I think for this car, you’ll be in for 100K for a quality restoration, and be lucky to have a 40-50K car when done.  In a way, it has some charm as a barn find, but these look amazing cleaned up, the interiors are something.

A little more researching on them, I thought they were rarer than they are, mainly because I didn’t realize DeS oto made an Airflow. I also found this.
